The user guide

From first photo
to finished email.

A few simple steps to send readable text, original photos, and your notes together.

01

Connect your sending account

Open the app and choose Continue with Google. Use the Google account approved for the beta.

On Google’s permission screen, select “Send email on your behalf.” Sign-in alone does not grant sending permission. Google may show an unverified-app notice during this private beta; continue only if you recognize and trust this app.

The app remembers your account. Use the settings gear → Switch email account to change it. During Google testing, you may need to reconnect after seven days.

02

Choose a recipient and title

Under Send to, tap + Add and enter a name and email address. You can select that saved recipient next time. Manage or delete saved recipients through the app’s recipient controls.

Enter a short document title. The email subject combines your title and the date. A recipient can use any valid email address and does not need to be an approved tester.

03

Add and arrange your photos

Use Take photo or Upload to add up to three original photos. Photograph pages straight on, in good light, with all text visible. Use a page’s options menu to move, remove, or retake it.

Each original starts with Transcribe selected. The app checks for text and unchecks pictures where none is detected. Review these choices: you can check or uncheck each original yourself.

Uncheck Transcribe for artwork or pictures you only want to attach. If every original is unchecked, the action becomes Send photos. Those photos are still included in the email.

04

Add comments with Mark-IT-up

Tap Mark-IT-up on an original. Choose the ink color and width, draw your marks, then tap Save marks. Use Undo or Clear to adjust the drawing.

Your original stays unchanged. The marked version appears as a separate Attachment only copy. Marked copies have no transcription option and are never used to read the text.

05

Read, review, and send

Tap Read photos to collect text from selected originals in page order. Review the transcription and correct any mistakes. You can also use Or type / paste text without photographing a page.

Open Email preview to check the readable layout. Headings, paragraphs, lists, line breaks, and simple tables can be reconstructed; the email also includes a plain-text alternative.

Choose Send email (or Send photos). The email is sent from your connected account and includes all original photos plus any saved marked copies. An acceptance receipt means the email provider accepted the message; check the destination inbox for delivery.

A little help when you need it

Good to know

Text accuracy and handwriting

The current reader works best with clear printed text. Handwriting support is pending. Faint text, complex columns, unusual fonts, and tables may need editing. Automatic text detection can also miss text or mistake picture details for letters; adjust the Transcribe choices and review before sending.

Blurry photos and attachment limits

If the app warns about a photo’s quality, retake it for better results or choose Use anyway if appropriate. The beta accepts up to three originals, up to 4 MB each, with a 12 MB total attachment limit. Marked copies also contribute to the attachment total.

“Send not confirmed” or “Delivery uncertain”

Check the sending account’s Sent folder and the recipient’s inbox and spam folder before trying again. If Google rejects sending permission, reconnect the account and allow “Send email on your behalf.” Follow the first error message; repeatedly submitting can risk duplicates when delivery is uncertain.

Will my work be saved?

Saved accounts and recipients use permanent storage. Unsent photos, marks, and text are held in the current page; refreshing or switching accounts clears them. Keep your originals and copy important edits before leaving. A home-screen icon does not make the app work offline.

Put the app on your home screen

Follow the home-screen setup instructions for iPhone, iPad, or Android. Add the icon from the app address, rather than this guide.
